Happy New Year!!
It’s hard to believe that 2013 has officially come to an end. Last year was filled with many blessings but also many challenges. We began 2013 in the ER on January 1st with my oldest. His asthma had flared up and his O2 levels weren’t good. But this year, we are kicking the year off right with a soy food challenge tomorrow (1/2/14) for my youngest! WOOHOO! What a way to begin a new year. Definitely better than last year. Of course we still have to make it through the challenge reaction-free before I really start celebrating but I’m hopeful because 2014 is our year! I’m just bubbling over with exciting announcements so here it goes…
We will be adding 2 fun, new features to EpiFamily.com every week!
- Food Allergies in The News: One of the things that I’ve enjoyed over the past 2 years as I started blogging about our life with food allergies has been joining the rather expansive food allergy community. When we were newly diagnosed I didn’t know anyone with life-threatening food allergies and I felt so alone. Now I have a circle of friends whose children have life threatening food allergies whom I chat with regularly and I also spend a lot of time reading the latest food allergy news. I’ve found that staying on top of anything and everything food allergy related in the news helps me to feel like I not only know what’s going on but it also makes me feel like I’m doing something for my little men. I don’t know whether or not you’re as crazy as I am about searching for and reading about food allergies in the news (if you are crazy like me, then kudos! Let’s have a party because we must be soul mates) so I’m going to bring the top news articles (in my opinion) each week to you. They’ll be posted each Sunday, beginning this Sunday (1/5/14).
- Food Allergy Love Fest: We are starting a weekly recipe link-up where other bloggers can post links & photos of their allergy-friendly recipes and everyone can see the complete list each and every week. I don’t know what your list of allergens is that you avoid on a daily basis but the scariest thing for food allergy families is meal time. (obviously!) It can be incredibly difficult to find safe recipes for everyone in your family to eat. I’m hoping that no matter what’s on your “foods to avoid” list that you’ll be able to find a new recipe, or three or four. Food Allergy Love Fest will go live next Wednesday (1/8/14) and will post every Wednesday. I’m personally excited to try out some new recipes!
I’m excited to share these new additions to our site with you. I hope you find them helpful each and every week. But ultimately I hope that 2014 will be your year, too! Prayers for many new foods and a reaction-free year.
